The History of Roulette; Roulette Strategies and Systems
Roulette, as you can maybe guess by the name, originated in France in the 18th Century, and takes its name from the French for 'little ball'. Since its conception it has become one of the most well-known and popular casino games both in real 'brick' casinos and in the ever increasingly popular online casinos.
One of the reasons for the popularity of roulette lies in the determination of man to beat the roulette table through strategies, systems and cheats. Many believe it to be impossible, and in the long-term statistically it is. This is because the house has the 'house edge'. In the long-term the casino can never lose. This is why many systems, including our free roulette system, focus on making short, small gains and trying to consistently win at the roulette table.
The most famous system is the Martingale roulette strategy. In short, the player chooses a colour and doubles his stake every time he loses. In theory the strategy can only lose if the player runs out of money to double his stake, or if the roulette table limit is reached. Unfortunately this happens much more often than expected, especially when playing lots of hands as is now possible at online roulette. A word of warning, many sites continue to wrongly announce the Martingale roulette system as a sure way at profiting from online roulette.
Another famous system is the Fibonacci roulette strategy where bets are sequenced using the Fibonacci number. This was more obviously flawed than the simple Martingale, failing to beat the house edge.
Other attempts to beat the roulette wheel has seen engineers attempting to predict where the ball will land, and computer whizzes building comprehensive statistical analysis programmes to predict the next number. So far, nothing has proved successful - but we assure you as soon as it does you'll see it here first!
